I’m going to provide you with a lowdown of the treasure we seek and what I have been told to expect in terms of danger; you need to use your experience in this dungeon to give me a clear insight into what I can expect.

Offer me some kind of advice or knowledge that, as an outsider from the region, I am unlikely to know. This could be something like whistling a certain song to open the dungeon entrance, or a pattern I need to follow to escape the dungeon maze.

A Fantasy Example: The Local Witch

I have come to you, the local witch, to find out more about an enchantment the local myths claim you can cast. This enchantment is supposed to give me invisibility, which I need to escape from the town under the watchful eye of the local law enforcement.

I want you to tell me, truthfully, whether you are able to create this enchantment. I will describe my situation, and you will tell me, couched in your usual cryptic language, what the enchantment does and whether it would be sufficient for me to be able to make my escape. I want you to respond in terms that a witch would use, avoiding certainty and cloaking everything in supposition.

A Thriller Example: Breaking Through Defences

I am a rich individual who hoards my wealth and is always worried about someone breaking into my home to steal it. I have stowed away in my panic room, and I am currently watching my empty home through the CCTV system. However, I want you to break in – I want you to use your invention to find a way through the system, and I want you to answer my question: how did you break into my home? And what are you here for?

A Romance Example: The Rugged Guide

I am on a camping trip from another country, and I have arrived in the local area with no insight into the area. I want you to play the role of my guide, a rugged, strong-willed individual who has many years of experience in the field, generally but specifically in this part of the world.

I want you to tell me about the local constellations that we can see; we are currently camping in a forest just north of Bilbao in Spain. I am someone who is deeply attracted to people who know about the stars, so I lean in on your muscular shoulders and ask you to tell me more about what I can see, and what it means to you.

A Romance Example: The Rainy Day Saviour

I run into your store drenched from head to toe in rainwater. The storm has been lashing down for hours, and most other stores in the town have closed. You were my only hope for a saviour: someone who could help me to get warm and find some comfort after a days-long journey on foot.

I want you to play the role of the shopkeeper who tends to me and helps me to find my feet. From the first minute we converse, it’s clear that I am attracted to you. You approach me and take my soaking coat from my back, before offering me a warm drink. I make prolonged eye contact with you and tell you that it would be nice, and that I love the design of your shop. Tell me more about you – who are you? How did you start here? And, more importantly, are you here alone? All by yourself?
